Our behaviorist, Ellen Mahurin, is now a licensed presenter of the Dogs & Storks program and the Dog and Baby Connection program.
- Dogs & Storks is designed to prepare family dogs for life with a new baby or adopted child. The aims of this program created by Certified Dog Behavior Consultant, Jennifer Shryock, are to keep dogs in their homes when children join the family and to prevent dog bites to children. - The Dog and Baby Connection program is for families who are already raising babies/toddlers and dogs together. It is the perfect follow up to Dogs & Storks designed to meet the needs of a family and dog who are adjusting to the rapidly changing behavior of a baby or toddler. Dogs & Storks Group Classes
What: A two-hour class for families with dogs who are expecting a baby or adopting a child. Learn how to prepare your dog for baby, keep your dog as a member of the family while caring for baby, keep baby and dog safe around each other and foster healthy child-dog relationships.The behaviorist will present a slide show and educational lecture about preparing dogs for a new baby and raising dogs and children together. This will occur in an intimate class setting of 20 people. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers. Educational DVDs will also be available for purchase.
Parents, grandparents, baby sitters, dog sitters and anyone who may be caring for dogs and children together are welcome. Class participants must be 15 years old or older.

Fees
- In-home consultation
The behaviorist will take a complete history, deduce the causes for problem behavior, design a behavior modification plan and explain training techniques. With an in-home visit, the behaviorist can also observe the problem behavior where it's happening, demonstrate training techniques and observe you practicing.
- $85/hour (Discounts avaiable upon request)
- Average length - 2 hours initial consultation, 1 hour follow-up consultations
- Average number of consultations - 4 (number of meetings is flexible depending on clients' needs)
- Phone consultation
The behaviorist will take a complete history, deduce the causes for problem behavior, design a behavior modification plan and explain training techniques.
- $65/hour (Discounts availavble upon request)
- Average length - 1.5 hours initial consultation, 45 minutes follow-up consultations
- Average number of consultations - 3 (number of calls is flexible depending on clients' needs)
- Dogs & Storks Group Class
The behaviorist will present a slide show and educational lecture about preparing dogs for a new baby and raising dogs and children together. This will occur in an intimate class setting of 20 people. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers. Copies of the slide show presentation and other items will be availblae for sale.
- $10/family (Parents, grandparents, baby sitters, dog sitters, bring them all!)
- Length - 2 hours
